What Does It Take To Master Fatigue, Exhaustion and Burnout?
My Personal Strategy And Philosophy To Master Fatigue, Exhaustion and Burnout
Do you struggle with fatigue, exhaustion, or burnout, and are tired of the same old advice 'Just take a break,' 'Get more sleep,' 'Try mindfulness meditation,' 'Exercise regularly,’ that don’t help you and leave you struggling with fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout?
In this newsletter, I present my strategy that will help you master fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout once and for all.
In the beginning, when I experienced problems with fatigue and burnout for the first time, I struggled with my recovery because I was focusing just on physical and lifestyle factors: back then it was all I knew.
I decreased my training volume, I eliminated caffeine, I was getting more physical rest and sleep, I was taking lots of different supplements, I was focusing more on recovery, etc.
It was only when I started looking at fatigue and burnout holistically, through different pillars of health and focusing on fixing and improving all of them, that I saw an improvement in my fatigue and burnout symptoms and I’ve been then able to recover and overcome them fully.
What’s the “Holistic Approach” to Mastering Fatigue, Exhaustion, and Burnout?
The word “holistic” by definition means “dealing with or treating the whole of something or someone and not just a part”.
So “holistic approach” means not focusing just on one aspect or symptom of fatigue, exhaustion or burnout, but focusing on the whole: improving different pillars of health to improve and raise the whole well-being.
The house cannot stand firmly on just one or two pillars - it needs at least four pillars to stand firmly, offer us safety, and overcome the challenges of weather, time, and age.
So what are those four pillars neccesary to master fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout?
The Four Pillars of Health and Well-being
My personal philosophy, which I have been researching and developing over the last few years, is that our health, well-being, and ability to master fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout are based on four pillars.
These four pillars are:
The Body and Physical Level
The Lifestyle
The Mind and Emotional Realm
The Soul and Spiritual Plane
These four major areas and pillars of health also form two groups: The Hardware and The Software.
The Body and The Lifestyle - in the upper half of the circle - form the Physical, the Material realm, or the Hardware. The Mind, Emotional realm, Soul and Spiritual Plane - the lower half of the circle - form the Immaterial, Abstract, Mental realm, or the Software.
We need both Hardware and Software to function optimally and synergistically to be able to conquer burnout.
If our physiology doesn't work well - if we have inflammation in our body, a wrecked gut, a lot of tension, stored stress, or accumulated emotional stuff - the mindset and spiritual practices simply won't work.
It's like installing a new program or a new operating system on an old computer or an old mobile phone: if the hardware doesn't support the software, it's just going to make it slower and weaker.
The reverse is also true. Our physiology - aka your Hardware - can be “top of the class”, but if our software is not functioning optimally - if our mentality is shitty, if we’re governed by our emotions and emotional states, or if we're not spiritually fit and aligned - we will never achieve your true potential.
But it’s not just the interaction between the two bigger groups - the Hardware and Software - it’s also the interaction between all four pillars.
Let’s go briefly through each of the four pillars.
The Body and Physical Level
Our body is the base: the bottom layer of a pyramid, the foundations of the house.
If our body is not strong enough, if something in our body is not functioning well, or is out of alignment, symptoms of fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout will occur.
The Lifestyle
Our lifestyle is one of the most important pillars for burnout prevention and recovery because it’s usually the main cause and reason behind fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout.
If we’re hustling and grinding all the time without a proper break, if we don’t get enough quality sleep and rest, if we don’t recover properly and if we fall victim of the modern environment and don’t use technology wisely, we won’t be able to master fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout.
The Mind and Emotional Realm
Our mind plays a much bigger role in our lives than we usually think. The mind controls our physical, mental, and emotional functioning and thus influences how we perceive the world and how we operate in it.
When we learn to harness the power of our minds in our favor, we can overcome anything - including problems with fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout.
On the other side, the emotional realm is one of the underestimated and undervalued aspects of health and plays a huge role in our well-being. fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout.
If we carry a lot of underlying emotional distress or repressed, unprocessed emotions, this will cause problems with fatigue, exhaustion, and problems with mental health.
The Soul and Spiritual Plane
The last aspect is the realm of the spirit, soul, or psyche - whatever you want to call it - and the spiritual plane.
This is the most poorly and misunderstood aspect of the four pillars and also often quite a taboo topic, but has huge importance for our health and the other three pillars.
Presenting: Master Fatigue, Exhaustion, and Burnout Online Course
I'm super excited to announce that I'll be hosting my first-ever training course called Master Fatigue, Exhaustion, and Burnout.
During this course, you will learn how to spot imbalances in each of the four areas, how to support and take care of them, and thus master fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout.
In this part of the course, we will focus on optimizing our nutrition and removing foods that can cause problems fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout, improving our digestion and gut health, and optimizing our hormones.
In this second module of the course, we’ll talk about how to master stress, how to optimize sleep and rest, and how to conquer today’s world governed by modern environments and technology.
In the third part of the course, we will learn how to control our mind and how to harness its power to our advantage, how to defang old internal patterns and belief systems that don’t serve us and install new, better ones, and how to optimize our emotional health and wellbeing.
In the last module of the course, we’ll learn how to optimize our spiritual fitness and Energy by harnessing the power of passion, purpose, and joy, how to cultivate strong relationships and community, and how to strengthen spiritual connection.
By making small changes and improving all four areas of our life it is far more likely that we’ll change our life than it is to find the one thing that will radically transform our lives.
Many small improvements will eventually raise the quality of our lives and change our lives for the better. That’s why we must pay attention, nurture, and strengthen different pillars of life, health, and well-being - and that’s in my opinion the best strategy to master fatigue, exhaustion, and burnout once and for all.
If you’re interested in the course and called to join it, check out more about it in the newsletter below, comment “Interested!” below, or reply to this email.
Insightful article. I definitely agree with your point on needing a holistic approach, by focusing on both the physical and mental realm, in order to effectively deal with fatigue and burnout.
